We’re moving to a new careers planning website
We’re transitioning from careers.govt.nz to Tahatū Career Navigator, the Tertiary Education Commission’s (TEC’s) new career planning website, between now and early December 2025.
Tahatū Career Navigator is now available to all New Zealanders following its successful rollout to all secondary schools in June.

careers.govt.nz will be retired on 4 December 2025
The careers.govt.nz website will be retired on 4 December 2025, with redirects in place to Tahatū Career Navigator from that date until the end of February 2026.
A new Career practice hub
We know the resources on careers.govt.nz have long been popular and widely used. Most of these resources will continue to be available through a new Career practice hub for practitioners on Tahatū. Resources have been reviewed and, where needed, refreshed to ensure they remain relevant, practical and fit for the future of career practice. Resources will continue to be added over time.

CV Builder has ended
What has changed
- The CV Builder tool is no longer available.
- Saved CVs and associated information are no longer available on careers.govt.nz.
Why it’s changed
The CV Builder tool on careers.govt.nz had reached the end of its life due to outdated technology and changing user needs. As career planning evolves, retiring the CV Builder tool lets us focus our investment in modern, data-driven career-planning tools that better support diverse pathways and personalised experiences.
We are legally required to delete your CV information
TEC is legally required to delete all saved CV Builder information for privacy reasons. This means we can no longer provide saved CVs or any associated information to you even if you ask us for it.
