What can I expect out of this qualification?
Graduates will have developed skills and knowledge to read, write, speak and understand a target foreign language at an introductory level; the ability to convey reflections of the foreign learning experience; an understanding of the linguistics of the English language, its relevance to teaching contexts, and the social and cultural factors that impact on English language use; Graduates will have knowledge and theoretical teaching, knowledge and practical teaching skills for working with non English Speaking background students. Graduates may pursue higher education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and in particular the Graduate Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages or seek employment positions in TESOL in New Zealand or overseas in a range of education situations.

Minimum requirements
Gained a teaching or other degree level (level 7) qualification. Other applicants over 20 are welcome to apply for Special or Provisional admission. English Lang. Reqs: IELTS 6.0 with all bands at least 5.5, or equivalent.
