Entry requirements

A bachelors degree in a relevant learning area with a grade point average of at least a B in the final year of study. Preference may be given to applicants holding tertiary qualifications that include science, te reo Mâori and/or mathematics.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

Graduates will have advanced knowledge of the professional practice of evidence-based teaching and curriculum implementation in the primary school context. They will have the skills and knowledge to establish and sustain a positive, inclusive learning environment and will be able to evaluate their own effectiveness using evidence of student learning progress. They will be able to critique research literature, teaching practices, and educational policy and will use their knowledge to develop the learning potential of all of their students. Graduates will be eligible to apply for teacher registration in New Zealand or progress to doctoral study with additional research methods study.
