What can I expect out of this qualification?

Graduates will have will have developed the mastery level skills required for designing and carrying out ethical and informative educational research, of a publishable standard. They will have developed advanced skills in articulating, challenging and developing personal theories of teaching and learning in relation to diverse educational literature and theory. They will be able to design intended learning outcomes, activities and assessments, using appropriate theory and research, in ways which address relevant characteristics of diverse student populations in modern universities, and to reflect upon and critically evaluate evidence of teaching effectiveness and to apply resulting knowledge to improve their teaching and students learning, and to support such changes within their disciplines and institutions. The PGDipHELT will enhance graduates career development within academia, and may lead to greater employability in the higher education sector in countries where professional teaching qualifications are required. Graduates will be prepared to adopt stronger academic leadership roles in teaching development within their institutions. Some graduates may be able to continue to masters level or doctoral studies in higher education.
