Graduates of the Postgraduate Certificate in Educational and Developmental Psychology possess essential knowledge and skills in professional practice in educational and developmental psychology. They demonstrate skills in the integration and application of educational, developmental, and psychological discipline knowledge and research. Their ability to assess, analyse, and interpret educational, developmental, and psychological knowledge ensures cultural and contextual relevance in supporting the lifelong learning of 21st century citizens. Graduates are distinguished by their development of key skills and abilities for the critical application of discipline knowledge and research. Graduates will possess the necessary foundations to pursue further postgraduate study for professional practice in Psychology, Educational and Developmental Psychology, Education and related fields. The qualification provides a pathway to professional training in educational and developmental psychology where graduates already possess a related and relevant masters degree. Graduates will develop skills and experience that will enhance and advance their careers in the following areas: * Inclusive and special education (early childhood to tertiary) * Professional development and human management within organisations * Leadership and consultation in educational settings * Behaviour and learning support work and specialist education support * Community support and consultation roles

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

A Masters degree in Education, Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Speech Language Therapy, or related relevant discipline, with a minimum B average; and at least 60 credits of approved undergraduate psychology courses with at least 45 credits at 200-level or higher, with a minimum B average; and sufficient study and research in psychology/educational psychology; and meet the New Zealand Psychologists Board registration requirements; and at least one year full-time relevant professional experience.
