What can I expect out of this qualification?
Graduates will be able to demonstrate and apply advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a field of engineering and be able to develop practical solutions to engineering problems to the level required for professional membership of the Institution of Professional Engineers of New Zealand. Graduates will be able to seek employment as professional engineers able and engage confidently in an Aotearoa New Zealand/Te Tiriti context, and further specialised postgraduate study. They will be able to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional and technical context with their colleagues and clients. They will also be able to apply their knowledge and skills, including Indigenous knowledge/matauranga Maori, to understand how complex socio-ecological systems and processes drive (un)sustainability. They will be able to critically engage in transdisciplinary, collaborative problem solving for sustainable change. They will understand ethical, social and environmental justice issues that impact sustainability decision making, alongside gaining skills for collaboration and community engagement in a Treaty framework. Graduates will have developed written, oral and numeracy skills and competencies to research, analyse, critique and present arguments for a range of audiences.
