General entry: All applicants must be registered teachers in New Zealand and have a current practicing certification.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this micro-credential is to empower secondary school teachers of Hangarau Matihiko/Digital Technologies curriculum, with a specific focus on kura and schools delivering to Māori and Pasifika communities, by equipping them with the necessary knowledge to upskill in the digital technologies space

Given learning outcomes of this micro-credential are closely aligned with NCEA Hangarau Matihiko/Digital Technologies standards, by completing this micro-credential, IT secondary school teachers would have been provided with an opportunity to upskill to deliver digital technologies standards to their students, with a particular emphasis on the design and development of a digital outcome using Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) techniques and methodologies, as well as programming concepts and techniques to write and present a computer programme.

This micro-credential aims to foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in Kaiako/secondary school teachers, enabling them to effectively engage secondary school students in the rapidly evolving digital space. By providing the tools and techniques required to deliver digital technologies standards, graduates (secondary school teachers) of this micro-credential will have a significant impact on digital technologies education in Aotearoa New Zealand.
