The programme recognizes the industry's need for well-trained professionals equipped with a comprehensive understanding of hotel operations. It covers a wide range of essential subjects such as food and beverage management, front office operations, housekeeping, and financial management, as well as topics such as customer service management, event management, and hotel marketing. To further address the industry's demand for effective leaders and supervisors, the programme is designed to develop leadership and managerial capabilities in students with specific training in strategic planning and human resource management, which are key skills required for higher-level positions within the industry.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Applicants must generally meet the criteria for University Entrance in New Zealand. Exceptions for discretionary and special admission are available, subject to approval by the Academic Board. There are no age restrictions to admissions. International Students meeting the English language requirements set out in Rule 18 of the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2021 may be eligible for enrolment subject to appropriate academic criteria. In addition, applicants for whom English is not their first language require an Academic IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent, with no band score lower than 5.5. Discretionary admission: Applicants who do not meet the general admission requirements defined above may apply for discretionary admission by completing a relevant learning programme at NZQCF level 5.
