About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The aim of this micro-credential is to provide basic knowledge of the human brain and the changes in relation to dementia and to understand how people with dementia are affected and their daily lives are changed.
The student target market for this micro-credential will be primarily for students, whether domestic or international [onshore], who:
- have limited work experience with dementia support, or
- have related healthcare experience or
- are interested to work in specialised dementia units.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Academic Entry Requirements: There are no compulsory academic entry requirements however it is recommended that learners enrolling for this micro credential hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) qualification or are working in healthcare industry. English Language Entry Requirements: Students whose first language is not English must provide evidence of competency in English language equivalent to IELTS General or Academic score of 5.5, or equivalent. This is subject to NZQA Rule 18, details of which can be found at: http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/about-us/our-role/legislation/nzqa-rules/nzqf-relatedrules/the -table/ International (onshore) students require a valid visa and insurance to study on the programme. There are no mandatory prerequisites for entry to this qualification.
