About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This micro-credential was developed to meet the dairy industry need for a short, targeted, and focused course that builds the skills and knowledge of current farmers to enable development of a Freshwater Management Action Plan for their pastoral farming business. This plan would include identification of all environmental risks unique to their farming business and strategies to mitigate these risks.

Engagement in this micro-credential will give farmers the opportunity to stay in control of their environmental data collection and reporting, rather than delegation to external organisations and businesses. Building and working to their own Freshwater Management Action Plan gives ownership and reassurance that they are achieving success and have action plans to accomplish the changes they need to achieve.

This micro-credential will assist graduates to build an understanding of the process when dealing with national, regional and catchment obligations including Te Mana O Te Wai, and the proposed He Waka Eke Noa initiative. Delivery content will include specific regional and sector considerations, and the links with national initiatives.
