What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification is intended for people who are interested in exploring a toiora whānau world view of social work through introduction to kaupapa and tikanga Māori health and wellbeing practices that promote positive social wellbeing outcomes for whānau, hapū, iwi and wider communities.
Graduates will be able to identify and explain key concepts of toiora whānau practice underpinned by mātauranga Māori. They will explore how kaupapa tuku iho can be applied to enhance the social wellbeing of whānau at a beginner level that support and contribute to whānau ora. Study of their marae, iwi, whakapapa links and a basic conversational level of te reo Māori will enhance their ability to assist in projects that contribute to whānau, hapū and iwi aspirations.
