About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

Graduates of this programme will be able to articulate a supervisory framework that integrates theory and practice enabling them to apply knowledge and skills as a professional supervisor in a range of contexts. Graduates will also have advanced skills in critical thinking and reflective and culturally responsive practice. This qualification will meet the needs of professionals by enhancing career progression in specialised fields of practice, and through meeting requirements of relevant professional, regulatory bodies and the supervisory needs of a diverse workforce population. The target market for the PGCertPS are qualified professionals with supervisory opportunities and/or experience, and/or professionals who wish to develop and extend their skills and knowledge in professional supervision within the context of their work and career.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Entry to the PGCPS programme may be limited by the number of places available. Applicants will normally have two years' work experience relevant to professional supervision. The academic entry requirement for the PGCPS is one of the following: - an NZQF-listed undergraduate degree (or equivalent); or - at the Dean's discretion, where an applicant's situation is compelling but not covered by the requirements listed above. All applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language fluency prior to acceptance in the programme. For international students, ways in which English language fluency may be demonstrated include the following: - successful study of a programme in which English was the language of instruction (subject to the conditions in EIT's Database for English Language Proficiency (DELP)) - completion of a New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 5 with any endorsement) - IELTS Academic score of 6.5, with no band score lower than 6, achieved in a single test within the two years preceding enrolment - accepted international equivalents to the above IELTS scores, achieved in a single test within the two years preceding enrolment (see equivalency tables in the DELP) An international applicant must be in possession of an appropriate visa for the duration of the Programme.
