About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The aim of this programme is to provide a qualified workforce of independent, competent and confident individuals able to identify, plan, implement, evaluate and report on the impact of structured physical-activity opportunities and services delivered to clientele within their community.
To achieve this aim the programme has been rigorously structured to progressively develop students across a wide range of knowledge and skills, culminating in offering students advanced skills in elective majors. These majors, representing critical domains within the exercise industry, have been designed to address the needs of Aotearoa/ New Zealand communities.
In particular, students will be able to choose an area of study so as to develop and apply the required skills, acknowledging and respecting cultural diversity, in either health and wellness, strength and conditioning, or sport and recreation management in order to have a direct, positive impact on:
* Diabetes prevention, obesity, corporate wellness and mental health management;
* Strength and conditioning for high-performance and aspiring athletes;
* Physical activity participation within our community members and groups.
This programme will be attractive to individuals who are passionate about using exercise to bring about positive change in the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
