Key Information for Students
Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
NCEL (General) (Level 3) or equivalent. All applications will be reviewed to ensure eligibility for entry. Prior to enrolment onto the programme, learners complete an initial placement test that determines English language proficiency across all NZCEL levels. The placement test is a paper-based test, consisting of a Use of English section, an interview and two pieces of writing. All sections are marked using rubrics aligned with CEFR and NZCEL criteria, and students performances are assigned CEFR and NZCEL Levels. Tests are administered, marked and moderated by OP English Language Centre academic staff against the criteria. More intensive diagnostic testing occurs in the first week of the programme to ensure learners are placed in the appropriate level. Limitations may be imposed on admissions and enrolment. Where there are more students than places available, students will be selected based on the order of their applications being received.
