What can I expect out of this qualification?

Integrate relevant theoretical and contextual knowledge with in-depth specialist, practical knowledge and skills that are situated within a specific art and design profession or discipline; enable students to develop practice-based critical evaluation skills and understanding, and the capacity to conduct and to apply self-directed research and inquiry towards the production of creative research outcomes; provide a balance of theoretical and professional industry knowledge and experience with which to form a basis for self-directed learning and research, post graduate study; facilitate an increased capacity for individual creative professionals to gain employment in the respective creative industry of their choice; equip students with the ability and knowledge to engage in sustainable and ethical creative practice, to be culturally sensitive, and responsive to environmental and social challenges, and emergent technologies shaping cutting-edge practices in contemporary art and design; produce adaptable and flexible creative professionals who have interpersonal and collaborative skills that can respond positively and creatively to change in industry and the professional environment.

Minimum requirements

Applicants must attend an interview at which they present a portfolio containing 12-24 samples of their work that reflect their skills and potential to successfully complete the programme. NCEA university entrance or equivalent. Discretionary entrance available for those with exceptional marks at NCEA level 2 and students over 20. International students - must be 18 and have a minimum of 6.0 IELTS or equivalent.
