Entry requirements
Applicants must attend an interview and present evidence of successful completion of an undergraduate diploma or degree qualification equivalent to level 7 on the NZQF; a GPA of their final undergraduate year of B- or above; a portfolio that reflects their skills and potential to successfully complete the programme; a letter of intent of declaration of research interests; academic writing ability which reflects the potential for successful study at the graduate level. Applicants whose first language is not English, are required to provide satisfactory evidence of proficiency such as 6.5 IELTS.

To support students to advance research methods as a practice-based methodology to achieve a critically informed body of creative work that contributes to the subject knowledge of fine arts; apply practice-based and academic critical evaluation skills and understanding to inform a significant self-directed, independent research inquiry/project; adapt and situate independent creative outcomes within key theoretical, contextual and critical frameworks of reference and influence; communicate and present a critical evaluation of the significance of the research project to the wider field of fine arts.
