This qualification provides the light automotive engineering industry with individuals who have attained the knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively diagnose and repair faults that are commonly encountered on light vehicles, including cars, light commercial vehicles or light trailers.
The qualification is designed for individuals who are interested in a career as a light automotive engineer.
Graduates of this qualification can work independently and may take some responsibility for monitoring the workplace.

Minimum requirements
Learners must be eligible to undertake industry training organised through MITO and must be employed in a light automotive workshop. Entry is subject to the approval of MITO. This will be determined on the basis of discussion between MITO, the employer and the learner.
