What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with proficient early childhood educators who can work professionally and collaboratively to provide practice-based education and care of mokopuna - infants, toddlers, and young children in a range of early childhood contexts, and to proceed to further study.
This qualification is intended for people who intend to work as early childhood educators or proceed to further study. This qualification does not lead to teacher registration.
Graduates may work independently or as part of a team in a range of early childhood contexts, including those underpinned by specific philosophies. It is also intended to enhance community outcomes.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Applicants for the New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 6) must have achieved the New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5) [Ref: 2851], or an equivalent qualification. International students are required to provide proof of their English language competency by meeting the language criteria defined in Rule 18 of the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2021 for a level 6 qualification. All applicants to the program undertaking the workplace (Blended) learning mode of delivery are required to be police vetted through the New Zealand Police, to ascertain their character under the Children's Act 2014. Applicants may be required to succeed in a personal interview. Applicants will be required to provide written referee reports as part of the application process and must also declare any physical or learning disability, or diverse needs that may impact on their performance as a student.
