About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying industries with people who:
- have basic skills and knowledge in plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying
- have an awareness of the requirements of the regulatory environment, and
- are ready to enter an apprenticeship.
The New Zealand community will benefit from having graduates who are able to assist in ensuring public safety in the provision of gas, water services, and drainage.
Graduates will be capable of assisting with plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying work under supervision.

Minimum requirements
10 NCEA Level 1 credits in literacy and 10 NCEA Level 1 credits in numeracy, or equivalent; evidence of ability to undertake the physical requirements of the programme based on application International: IELTS 5.5 (no band lower than 5.0), or equivalent
