About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the hospitality sector with people who are able to work as junior or trainee hospitality managers, supervisors or team leaders across a range of hospitality sectors.
Graduates will have enhanced employment opportunities within junior or trainee hospitality management, supervisor or team leader roles across a range of establishments in the hospitality sector.
This qualification establishes standards of professional practice for hospitality managers, supervisors or team leaders in a junior or trainee role that can provide customers with confidence in a range of hospitality environments.
Graduates will be able to work autonomously in a range of hospitality environments with some responsibility for the management and learning of others.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
A candidate for admission to this programme of study shall: * (a) (i) have a minimum of 14 NCEA numeracy credits at Level 1 or higher and 50 credits at Level 2 or above with at least 12 credits in each of three subjects, including a minimum of 8 literacy credits at Level 2 or higher; or (ii) have successfully undertaken tertiary study; or (iii) have successfully completed the requirements for a New Zealand Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in hospitality; or (iv) hold an equivalent overseas qualification; and * (b) have attained the age of 17 years; and * (c) have an English level equivalent to IELTS (Academic) 5.5 (with no band less than 5.0) / TOEFL iBT 46 (with a writing score of 14) / PToE academic score of 42 with no band lower than 36 / NZCEL (General or Employment) (Level 4) / AIS Test of English Proficiency (TEP) 48/80 (with no band less than 11) (eligible students only); or * (d) gain approval under Admission Regulation 1.3: Special Admission.
