About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the hospitality sector with people who are able to work as junior or trainee hospitality managers, supervisors or team leaders across a range of hospitality sectors.
Graduates will have enhanced employment opportunities within junior or trainee hospitality management, supervisor or team leader roles across a range of establishments in the hospitality sector.
This qualification establishes standards of professional practice for hospitality managers, supervisors or team leaders in a junior or trainee role that can provide customers with confidence in a range of hospitality environments.
Graduates will be able to work autonomously in a range of hospitality environments with some responsibility for the management and learning of others.

Minimum requirements
Academic requirements: Applicants under 20 years old:* NCEA Level 2 * A minimum of 8 literacy credits at Level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Maori, of which at least 4 credits must be in reading and at least 4 credits must be in writing. Or One of the following qualifications:* New Zealand Certificate in Business (Level 3)* New Zealand Certificate in Business (Level 4)* New Zealand Certificate in Maori Business and Management (Level 4)* New Zealand Certificate in Project Management (Level 4)* New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 3) * New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 4)* New Zealand Certificate in Tourism (Level 3)* New Zealand Certificate in Tourism (Level 4) Applicants 20 years old or over:There are no minimum academic requirements, however, applicants will need to provide their curriculum vitae detailing any relevant work experience and academic achievements English language requirements: All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those students whose first language is not English should have an international English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall academic score of at least 5.5 (with at least 5.0 in each band) issued within the last two years, or a qualification considered to be equivalent to the above: Refer to The NZQA Table of Internationally Recognised English Proficiency Outcomes for International Students Note: Students who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements are not required to provide evidence of English Language Skills.
