Key Information for Students

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

A learner undertaking this programme is likely to have been a school leaver within the previous two years who is intent on gaining further qualifications and who is interested in working towards either higher level education or gaining entry level employment. Applicants are most often young, second chance learners aged between 16 and 19 years who have either disengaged from school or have decided that a vocational programme alongside NCEA is a better fit for them. Open entry: There is an expectation that all learners will take the same timetabled pathway to completing the qualifications. To support learners who have previously gained unit standards we make provision for recognition of prior learning. The learners training plan will be amended to reflect any RPL decisions. The programme is divided into sections which allow ideal entry points for people entering the programme after the start-of-year commencement date. Applicants must be available to attend each day, and must demonstrate a genuine interest on gaining the qualifications which the programme is designed to achieve. A functional level of written and spoken English is required. There are no physical restrictions that would prohibit learners undertaking this programme. The selection process will include an interview and consideration of record of learning, for some applicants entering at either CT2 or CT3 (shown in section - Aim) is a better match and more beneficial to the learner.
