About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide primary industry workplaces with individuals who can safely and effectively carry out operational activities which involve vehicles, machinery and infrastructure.

Primary industry workplaces will benefit by having staff with the skills to safely and effectively complete operational activities relevant to vehicles, machinery and infrastructure.

Learners will benefit by having a qualification within a training pathway that recognises progression through the industry and enables improved job performance.

This qualification is for learners from a wide range of primary industry workplaces who want to develop a range of competencies that contribute to the safe and effective operation of a primary industry workplace.

Graduates will be capable of working under limited supervision.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

New Zealand Certificate in Agriculture (Vehicles, Machinery and Infrastructure)(Level 3). Students must be a minimum of 16 years at the start of their course and ideally have NCEA Level 2. Students may be assessed by personal interview. Demonstrate a keen interest in working in the primary industries, as evidenced through a letter of intent and/or curriculum vitae. The following unit standards (or equivalent knowledge and skills) are pre requisites for some quads and motorcycles Quad bikes - 24557 and 24554 Motorcycles - 24555 and 19053 Students must be able to demonstrate the pre requisites skills and knowledge before undertaking assessment against the unit standards included in the programme schedule. If required additional teaching will occur so that students reach this level. This will enable students to achieve the mandatory unit standards.
