About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the tourism and travel industries with individuals who can contribute to and lead the effective implementation of processes in the tourism industry. Their knowledge and skills will proactively and productively strengthen and enhance the visitor experience, to strengthen the contribution of tourism to the New Zealand economy.
The qualification will benefit the community by enriching New Zealand's tourism visitor experiences.
Graduates will be able to deliver a high-quality visitor experience across diverse organisations in the tourism and travel industries. They will be able to work independently and may also have responsibility for leadership in developing and guiding strategic business direction in the tourism and travel industries.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Applicants under 20 years: Applicants should be a minimum of 18 years of age and have completed the New Zealand Diploma in Tourism and Travel (Level 5) or equivalent. Applicants over 20 years: Applicants over the age of 20 years at the time of enrolment will be considered where they can demonstrate the ability to succeed in the programme of study. Examples of demonstration of ability to succeed are the provision of evidence of successful completion of the New Zealand Diploma in Tourism and Travel (Level 5) or equivalent and/or employment in the tourism or related sector at an entry-level management position or higher for 2 or more years. They may be admitted subject to programme regulations approved by the Head of Faculty in consultation with the Programme Manager as appropriate. Personal commitment and a belief in one s own ability to succeed are important personal traits and will always be taken into consideration during the selection process.
