i. Completed any course at level 5 or equivalent on the NZQCF
ii. Or: Passed NCEA Level 3 or equivalent in English.
For those whose first language is not English, there are three entry pathways:
i. If their secondary-level education was completed in an English-speaking school, they can be admitted under the same requirements as those for whom English is their first language, as outlined above
ii. Or: If they have completed a minimum of a two-year diploma at level 6 on the NZQCF or equivalent in an English-speaking/teaching tertiary institution
iii. Or: If they have achieved an IELTS score of 7 overall.
About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide a basic knowledge of the field of TESOL and supervised practice in applying that knowledge through teaching in a community-based classroom situation.
The course is designed for learners who wish to use such training with non-profit community groups and churches in NZ, or international mission agencies and NGOs, as part of a wider calling to cross-cultural Christian ministry.
